The Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps) is native to a wide range of regions in Australia. A species of agamid lizard, the Beardie earned its common name from its unique ability to blacken and fan out the flesh on its chin and neck when they are so inclined. They are generally quite docile and seem to find as much fascination watching us as we find in watching them. A great first time reptile for someone willing to put in the effort of daily care. You can expect to spend upwards of 10 years with your Bearded Dragon so consider future plans in life when adopting a Bearded Dragon.
